Takk... by Sigur Ros out on Monday... for the past "few" months, Sundlaugin has been used almost exclusively for the making of this fourth album of the band that built the studio. The album was recorded and mixed at Sundlaugin apart from the string section which was recorded at a local church, Langholtskirkja. The album was then mastered at Sterling Sound. Congratz to Sigur Ros....

Soundscape expanded....We´ve decided to continue our devotion to the dutch DAW manufacturer Sydec and we just bought a second system for the studio. The new one is a Soundscape 32, which is basically a newer version of the R.Ed system we already had and will continue to use. So now we have 52 channels in and 64 out....

The Neve desk has undergone some major makover. It was recently totally re-capped by a vintage Neve speciallist Blake Devitt and Funky Junk London, where we get most of our equipment from, installed an Uptown System 2000 automation system as well. So now we have flying faders on 32 channels, enough to automate everything coming from the Otari MTR90. The Soundscape system can also be controlled "hands-on", using the new Tascam US-2400. It has 24 channel faders and a master fader, 4 banks which make a total of 96 channels. EQs, Aux sends, transport functions, surround panner... you name it. And of course it can be used with ProTools, DP4. Logic and all the other DAWs.

Otari 24 channel analogue tape machine expected within the next couple of weeks... The studio has bought this piece of art to be able to provide an "all-analogue" environment, which is on the rise again after many years of digital domination. It's being serviced in the U.K and according to the engineers, it's one of the best examples they have ever seen...
